About Patricia’s Entrepreneurial Journey

“unithrifts is a testament to myself as an entreprenuer. Growing up in Miami’s underserved Hispanic community of Little Havana, I did not receive as much support as I would have liked as an aspiring entrepreneur. The typical response to saying I hoped to one day become an entrepreneur, was followed by ‘Mija, are you sure? You need a real job. That is a job for the wealthy.’

With passion and grit, anything is possible. I am passionate about the social issues unithrifts is solving because I’ve experienced them first hand as a low-income student who would dread walking into my campus bookstore because I couldn’t afford anything. My lived experiences instilled a passion in me to be a voice for all the students who find themselves unattached from their college communities because they lack the financial resources or access to quality resources.

Our user testimonials have shown how important this innovation is, especially in the lives of first generation and low-income students who are sometimes struggling to pay tuition and other college-related expenses, Being able to afford this college gear goes beyond wearing a hoodie with three letters embroidered on them. It showcases the struggles their ancestors went through to get them to where they are today and leave a lasting legacy. unithrifts is not only leaving a positive ‘footprint’ on the world because of our environmentally friendly efforts, but it is also changing the face of students around the nation — and soon the world.”
About Patricia’s Pitch
“It is an amazing feeling to know I have the opportunity to share the unithrifts goal of expanding and diversifying what sustainability looks like on college campuses across the U.S. with the incorporation of “tech for good.” As a Latinx collegiate founder, I look forward to sharing my experience building a company while still in school and proving that you are never too young to have an impact!”
